Merely Players is pleased to collaborate with Theatre at St. Anne's and Troupe Imaginarium to produce our Summer Theatre Workshops.  Our workshops are designed to provide both beginning and developing young actors an opportunity to practice their craft in a safe and relaxed atmosphere.  Workshops focus on stagecraft including acting skills, choreography, voice, terminology and technique, set building, props, and costuming.  Students will also learn and practice audition skills.  Audition process provides a training exercise only.  Each student will have a role in the show and each workshop will culminate in a performance of the production on Friday afternoon of the last day of class.

Our workshops are for students of all experience levels, aged 8 - 16, (younger and older by special arrangement).  Each workshop is $375 for the two weeks, 9:30 - 3:30, and tuition includes all materials including scripts, props, costumes, and sets.  We do appreciate offers to borrow costume or set pieces.  The actors will bring their own lunches and snacks.  Class size is limited to 25 students and each workshop will have two adult directors and at least one experienced teen director.  A $25 discount is offered to Siblings, to 2nd Session registration, MP Members, Military, & registrations received by April 31st.

DIRECTORS

MATT MACIS, Director has been lucky enough to work with students of theatre, music and dance, starting in high school – all the while balancing the role of both instructor and peer. His experience in the professional world starting at age 16 has allowed for him to relay unique insight, translate the reality of the business, and tell some pretty cool stories to his students. Matt is an avid believer in using the arts as a vehicle through which children and teenagers may learn the values of self-worth and self- respect, in addition to the respect of others. The arts are an amazing tool through which we can hope to achieve camaraderie, perseverance and dedication in the lives of today’s youth. Matt's theatre credits include a national tour, regional, local and dinner theater work throughout the country, and he will soon appear in the pre-tour workshop of an all-new play in Detroit, where he will share the stage with television, film and recording stars Kel Mitchell ("All That", "Kenan and Kel"), Buddy Lewis ("Def Comedy Jam", "Yes, Dear") E’Casanova (Back to the Future 2, "VH1: FANatic") and gospel sensation Shirley Murdock.

KEN KIMBLE, Music Director & Workshop Co-coordinator  has conducted and music directed shows most recently with Annapolis Summer Garden, Annapolis Children's Choir, Merely Players, and Children's Theatre of Annapolis. Lindsay Espinosa & Christina Bartone,  our Student Directors, have performed with Colonial Players, Annapolis Summer Garden, Merely Players, Stageworkz, and in many school productions.   Lindsay is returning for a third year and will be attending Baldwin Wallace Conservatory in the fall.
